Tradition in the MakingWelcome to the Web Site of Artist Blacksmith Don Barker FWCB.
Following a 200 year old family tradition of blacksmithing, Don now employs 10
people at his forge based in York, England. We also specialise in the restoration of antique ironwork and the faithful reproduction of all types of antique metalwork.. We have a gate automation division which manufactures and installs automatic gates with optional intercoms and ancillary equipment. Examples of our work can be seen at our showroom in Elvington near York where
personal callers are welcome. If you wish to come
along and discuss your requirements - we look forward to meeting you soon.
pureiron.com Pure iron is a newly available material which we stock in bar and sheet form. It is very easy to forge and repoussé work can be carried out cold without the need to anneal. It is particularly useful for armourers and can even be used by hobbyists and amateurs. Please visit our sister web site at http://www.pureiron.com where you can learn all about it.
For ease of navigation this site has a
'family tree' structure with child pages listed on the left side of each page
and a grey "up" button at the top left to return you to the parent page. If you want to go directly to a specific page you can look it up in our Reference Index and use the hyperlinks provided.
